Hafod Estate, near Devil's Bridge, Ceredigion – Gentleman’s Walk, taking in some of the Ladies Walk
The National Trust (free to enter) Hafod Estate is one the finest examples of a ‘picturesque style’ landscape from the 18th century. Hidden in the wild and tranquil landscape of mid-Wales near Devil's Bridge, the estate was once the thriving home of the benevolent Johnes family– often described as a ‘paradise’ for those who lived there. Although the original mansion does not exist today, buildings and structures from the original estate still survive, revealing hidden stories and tales from a time gone by.
Our walk takes in the beautiful wooded landscape of the estate and incorporates the Gentleman's and the Lady's walk. It's a 7.33km/ 4.5 mile walk with an ascent of 433 metres. There are a few styles to climb too. As it's the end of October the woodland is likely to be muddy with leaves so stout walking books recommended.
