We started off with coffee and a lunch order at the Riverbarn Cafe which is run by David and Liam. We headed off through the great arch which is the entrance to the park, noting the Green Man keystones. We noted the lake where Johnny Depp swam in the film Chocolat which was filmed here and in France. We checked out the tunnel where the owners could cross under the public road to the boathouse and cross to the grottoes on the east side of the lake. We inspected the dam with the hydro power generation, then headed off to the village of Ridge, seeing the latest Fonthill House - the ninth great house on this estate. Back to Riverbarn for lunch and a sociable chat which included planning the next walk using Riverbarn as a base!

Ten members enjoyed a very pleasant walk in the lovely English countryside in glorious walking weather.
