A ghost of the 1920s: Terramar Garden Village and Autodrome, Sitges 2026
For one of our Friday morning tour options of GOC goes to Sitges 2026, new for this year, Sitges-resident GOC member James offers a 4.5-mile walk that gives a flavour of the forward-thinking vision that turned the sleepy Vinyet hamlet, just a mile south of Sitges, into a playground for the decadent and ambitious 1920s visionaries.
A thoughtfully planned garden town, with formal 'Terramar' (earth and sea) gardens and the huge, but ill-fated, investment into a motor racing circuit and aerodrome to attract the early innovators and speed-seekers on land and in the air. The pace of change means Vinyet and Terrarmar are now suburbs of Sitges making this area easy to access from the town.
As a former racing driver (not in the 1920s....) James will give a historical insight into how Sitges captured the glamour and speed of the sport, contrasting that with a tranquil ramble through the edge of vineyards and a visit to the church of Vinyet.
Bookings will open on 1 July - please book as early as possible and by Friday 16 October at the latest. Capacity will be limited to 15 for a manageable group.
