Queering Cambridge. A Pride Morning Walk
Cambridge presents two faces to the world. One is prim and austere- a market town of church spires, civic order and enforced moral respectability. The other is hushed and gaslit- a warren of college staircases, secret societies, and intimate friendships, conducted in Latin codes, whispered in candlelit rooms, and scratched in margins of ledgers no one was supposed to read.
This walk threads between those two worlds. It begins in the market square- where the town policed its bodies- and ends where bodies take the streets back: at the Cambridge Pride parade. Along the way, centuries of queer lives will raise from the cobblestones.
