On Midsummers Eve on the hottest day of the year so far our brave band of five set off onto Shell Bay Beach. We soon diverted into the hinterland following the heather walk through the dunesĀ to emerge onto the naturist beach.
A long stroll down the beach at the waters edge led us from the naturist beach to the NT Cafe at Knoll Beach for some welcome refreshments. We then headed inland through refreshingly cool woodland to visit the hide at the Little Sea inland lake where beavers have been recently introduced.
We followed the path around the Little Sea to spot herons and other wild fowl but sadly no beavers. A trek through the dunes led us back to the naturist beach for a welcome swimming break. No shortage of beavers here! Suitably cooled off and tanned we trekked up the beach back to the start point.
