Thirteen members met on a gloriously sunny morning in the Cricketers public house, ideally placed the end of our return journey refreshments.
The first part of the journey was a steady climb up to the triangulation point on Hambledon Hill at 630 feet (192m). This point was a junction of four paths, all of which we do in this walk. From there a gentler climb led to the peak of Hambledon Hill with magnificent far-reaching views and of the ramparts of the iron age hill fort. A steep descent led through ancient lanes and farm fields to a gentle ascent back to the trig point and the path to a barn for our lunch stop.
Refreshed we descended to cross the road and ascent of Hod Hill with its magnificent ramparts. After the summit we dropped to the clear river Iwerne and some gentle undulations via a permissive path back for a well-earned drink at the Cricketers.
