Meikle Bin - Campsie Fells
Meikle Bin
Meikel bin is the eastern most hill in the Campsie Fells and at 570m is quite high. Its isolated position gives good views on a clear day. The hill rises above the Carron Valley Reservoir and is surrounded by forestry plantations; forestry roads will give us quite easy access to the base of the hill. This is a circular walk of about 10 miles that traverses the hill.
The route uses forestry tracks for the most part but there is quite a steep climb to Meikle Bin summit. Parts of the route could be muddy in sections after rain. Good boots, waterproof jacket and trousers, some layers of warm clothing may be required, depending on the weather.
The Walkhighlands website gives a route to the hill to give you an idea of the terrain, although we'll only be using parts of this route.
