Glen Affric
A weekend of hill walking in the remote mountains of Glen Affric
Glen Affric Youth Hostel (Alltbeithe) is the most remote hostel in the UK; it is not accessible by car and is a seven mile walk-in from the nearest road by the shortest route. But staying in such an isolated spot will give us easy access to some otherwise inaccessible mountains and seldome explored country.
The hostel sits at the head of Glen Affric, a glen famous for its loch and extensive birchwood forests. The hostel is surrounded by some very fine remote mountains such as Sgurr nan Ceathramhnan, Mullach na Dheiragain, An Socach and Beinn Fhada.
You will need to carry all your equipment and food in yourself for the weekend. Sleeping bags will also be required.
People intending to take part in this event should read GOC's document Safety in the Hills.
