Hastings to Rye--About 10 Miles walk
Paul Conway will lead us on a superb coastal walk eastwards from Hastings to the pretty town of Rye.
We will walk along the cliffs as much as possible but parts are still closed off due to land slips. After lunch we will walk along the Military canal with a short detour to visit Winchelsea where we will have time to have a look around the village and possibly a cream tea or a beer. We will return to the canal, passing by Camber Castle before reaching Rye about 6. Trains to London are hourly at forty minutes past the hour. There are a couple of pubs in Rye that serve food for a reasonable price.
Return by train from Rye station either via Hastings or Ashford.

++++PLEASE NOTE+++++++ You DO need to have a reasonable level of fitness for this walk.
As many as 10 assents and desents up and down the steps of the coastal path. EACH could be as many as 100 steps up or down.
This is a tougher walk than normal London Group walks.
Please bring a packed lunch and plenty of water. Lunch will be about 2pm on the cliffs just before we descend to Pett Level.
An alternate return from Rye via Ashford to St. Pancras may be a faster route but costs more.
