Meall Chuaich
A walk up a relatively gentle Munro, from Glen Truim, near Dalwhinnie.
Starting from a height of around 350m, Meall Chuaich (951m) can be easily climbed by a combination of track, hydro road and less well defined paths across open moorland and grassy slopes. On a clear day we should have fine views up Strathspey to the north and the Craig Meagaidh and Ben Alder ranges to the west.
Bear in mind that although spring may have sprung, winter conditions may still prevail at higher levels and require the use of an ice axe and crampons - so possibly a walk for those with some winter mountaineering experience.
Why not make a weekend of it and join us on Saturday 22nd March for a longer day tackling the Western Drumochter Munros? Some of those participating plan to book at a local hostel or bunkhouse for the weekend.
