This circular walk takes us on a circuit of Chobham’s surprisingly wild and open heathland. The land has been
managed to maintain the heathland environment and is a National Nature Reserve. You can encounter 29 species of
butterfly and over 100 different birds in this relatively small area.

We will visit the Victoria Monument on the northern part of Chobham Common marks a defining moment, the start of the British Army’s residence in this part of the country. Erected in memory of Queen Victoria, following her death on the 22nd January 1901, it
commemorates her life and the time she reviewed her troops here on the 21st June 1853, at the Great Camp.

We will also pass close to Longcross Studios, once a Ministry of Defence site. Films include: Thor: The Dark World,
Guardians of the Galaxy, Skyfall, Hugo, Fast & Furious 6, Doctor Strange, Call the Midwife. The site south of the M3
was originally used to test MOD vehicles (including tanks) but now provides exterior locations for the studios.
