With South Western Railway cancelling and delaying trains between Clapham Junction and Wimbledon, we feared the first Surrey mid-week walk may be in jeopardy! But we needn’t have worried as nearly everybody made it somehow!
Then 25 members of the London and Surrey group set off on this beautiful 7 mile hike, starting from Wimbledon station.
The sun had his hat on for us on what was a gorgeous Autumn day as we strolled through Wimbledon common and beyond. Entering Richmond Park, we were welcomed by plenty of deers but we made sure to stay well back as it is currently rutting season.
The perfect lunch stop at Roehampton gate was enjoyed by all, the sun beating down as we munched through our culinary delights. The final leg of our walk was through Richmond Park, finishing at The Roebuck pub in Richmond where a few of the members indulged in a beverage.
A massive thank you to Peter Blackburn for leading our first mid-week walk- the first of many we hope!
