JOGLE Day 89 Bude to Boscastle
We have now entered the Celtic land of Cornwall/Kernow. Also our 5th and last Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Cornwall AONB.
The path out of Bude begins gently, and remains so passed Widemouth Bay, but at Penhalt Cliff the climbs start, with a big descent into Millook. A climb up Dizzard Point 164m with a trig point, followed by a descent to 50m. At Castle Point to just north of Crackington Haven there are warnings of the shale cliffs being unsafe, to take higher rather than lower paths. There is a steep descent into Crackington Haven.
There is no let up on the cliffs from Crackington Haven to Boscastle, where the highest cliffs in Cornwall are reached on High Cliff at 223m
Eventually we reach Boscastle with it's narrow serpertine shaped harbour.
Boscastle also hosts the Museum of Witchcraft and Magic but open hours are 10am to 5pm weekdays, so that may have to wait to another day.
