Twelve members enjoyed a three and a half mile stroll around Shaftesbury led by our excellent local guides, Phil and Gary, who introduced us to the historic legacies of the town - the iron age fort, the abbey precinct, the medieval town, the famous Gold Hill, two museums, the ancient struggle with water living atop a hill, and the spring-line villages at the foot of said hill. The walk was followed by a delicious lunch at The Two Brewers. At the stroll's end, a number of members were saying that they had been inspired to plan a return visit to this fascinating Dorset town.
Special thanks for Phil and Gary for hosting the walk with such ease, much appreciated. And, the weather, whilst not very summery and too misty for good views, was kind overall.
