Dorset Group 13Jun23: Easy Stroll Lytchett Matravers

Our small band of 8 met up in the village hall car park in Lytchett on a gloriously warm and sunny day.  We then snuggled up cosily into two cars and headed for our tiny parking spot on the verge of a very quiet country road.  Initially, we thought we were stymied, since there was a 'road closed' sign.  However, we pressed on and encountered no closure; the fates were with us.

We set off down a path which is signed as a bridleway, but we wondered how on earth a horse could negotiate such a narrow path. We had another section of country road and then peeled off along the Wareham Forest Way.  Our feared muddy section had dried considerably over the latest dry spell, so the walk could have been done in dancing pumps, let alone trainers.

We soon emerged onto the road where we'd parked, headed back to Lytchett and on to the Rose and Crown, where we all enjoyed a cool drink. We spent a total of about 15 minutes on country roads and saw not a single vehicle. The only encounter we had was with a massive tractor on a farm track, which we wisely decided to give way to!
