This is the walk led by Jon Barker which was originally planned for May but had to be postponed.

The first half of our walk runs west from Merstham follows the North Downs Way. It soon reaches Gatton Park, which was landscaped by Lancelot “Capability” Brown. The walk attains the top of the North Downs escarpment at Reigate Hill giving excellent views to the south and along the North Downs ridge. We will stop a short while at Reigate Fort before we walk further along the North Downs Way to Colley Hill, another fine viewpoint.

Leaving the escarpment, we turn north, crossing the M25 and passing the tiny village of Mogador. We then cross the wise open spaces of Banstead Heath to Walton on the Hill. The walk ends on Epsom Downs Racecourse with a panoramic view of the London skyline.
