Western Midlands, Historic Worcester, the two Charlies and Severnside. A six-mile circular, exploring two bridges, Georgian architecture and the City's Civil War legacy at Fort Royal. Accompanied by architect and expert John, we start off at Europe's only joint University and Local Authority Library -The Hive (complete with gold roof) Car Parking, cafe and toilets available. John will explore with us the nearby stunning Georgian Britannia Square prior to joining the Severnway via Sabrina Bridge and racecourse. Riverside walking affords us the Swan Sanctuary with iconic views of the Cathedral opposite. Continuing along the flat, we see open countryside westward to the Malvern Hills. A stunning new suspension bridge at the recently opened salmon weir that then takes us back to explore picturesque Diglis lock basin. Here our route follows the canal city-wards suddenly emerging under the Commandery bridge. Here we visit the memorial (and option of cafe) at Fort Royal (a very short ascent) - site of the final Roundhead victory

Suitably replenished Charles IIs escape route into exile beckons us via medieval new street, national trust greyfriars and the Cardinals Hat. Georgian St Swithuns church (recently renovated) or the 18th Centry city guildhall can be briefly visited- with a choice of cafes and bars afterwards
