EYNSHAM, SOUTH LEIGH, East of OXFORD - SAT 5TH NOV 22
A 8 mile near figure of eight walk out from EYNSHAM ancient market town west to the hamlet of SOUTH LEIGH, West of OXFORD, Oxon. With the help of Andrew W we will explore the old market town and the site of its abbey. We then follow the East-West main Street out across undulating landscape to reach the small hamlet of South Leigh.
Even if you are not interested in churches. This is the exception. It boasts probably the best surviving walk paintings in the county.
We plan to have lunch there, but there is the temptation to stop for a drink at "The Masons Arms" on route.
We then discover the former Oxford to Witney railway line back to Eynsham's medieval fish ponds.
No pub meal has been planned, though several food outlets are available after the walk in Eynsham.
