On a sunny morning with a very cold wind 16 hardy people walked across Godlingstone Heath (which fortunately had dried up under foot a great deal since being checked out on the 3rd March 2022).
Leaving Godlingstone Heath we walked through the Purbeck Forest to Ower Heath and then to Ower Quay which is thought to be the first quay in Poole harbour. As we sat on the beach with the waves lapping the shore, the clouds reformed and in a bitterly cold wind we enjoyed a very quick picnic.
We returned through the Purbeck Forest to Newton Heath where a large number of trees had been felled by the forestry commission leaving the forest rather bare. Afterwards we all went to the leader’s house for a delicious and warming tea.
