Dorset Group 14 Nov 21: Hengistbury Head/Mudeford/Christchurch

On a calm, clear November morning 21 walkers from Dorset and Solent gathered for a stroll of a little over 7 miles round Christchurch Harbour, site of one of Britain's most ancient ports. We set off throught the popular nature reserve of Hengistbury Head and enjoyed sweeping coastal views from the summit of the Head.

A short but chilly ferry crossing of the Harbour mouth led to our lunch stop where we were able to regain warmth in the pub or cafe. Returning across the marshes to Christchurch with its historic priory, we rounded off the day at our leader's home in Bournemouth for an autumnal tea including a choice of home made soups
