Painswick 24 April 2016

This quite challenging walk also featured on other gay social media. From those attending, 60% were from other GOC groups including Western Midlands. Dry under foot with a chill wind it was sun all the way with uninterupted amazing views & with most woodland thick with bluebells at their best. We made a drinks stop in a sunny field looking back towards Painswick & then climbed to Haresfield Beacon, sheltering from the cold wind in a woodland hollow for lunch. Decending into a spectacular valley, trees were fast coming into leaf & we lost the chill wind. Making two steep climbs through woodland we stopped to make the most of a warm heath where in the distance, we could see the spire of St. Marys church, Painswick. Finally arriving at our start point, some of us welcomed a beer in the Royal Oak. kenny
