The Starling Murmuration, Ham Wall and Pub Dining, Glastonbury 23rd November 2025

Nine members enjoyed a gentle, seven-mile walk out onto the Somerset Levels to view the starling murmuration at RSPB Ham Wall, Glastonbury on the afternoon of Sunday, 23rd November 2025. The weather was friendly. However, the starlings were not in the mood for aerial acrobatics and, arriving in huge flocks, chose to go straight to their place to roost for the night. The viewing was still impressive thought with the distinctive chatter from the great number of birds settling in the reeds.

We followed our walk with pub dining at The Crown Hotel, Market Place, Glastonbury and a good feed was had by all.

Thank you to members who travelled some distance to view the murmuration, much appreciated; furthest flung being the two from Plymouth.
