A small group of our members braved the rather grey skies and a chill breeze to walk on the Pride Parade en route to Kings Meadow where Reading Pride took place. Heading our Group was Jim Cornwell, GOC Chair, colourfully dressed in his now well known rainbow suit which certainly drew approving smiles from other participants in the Parade and also the general public.
This was our second attendance at Reading Pride. In my view it was another successful event in part because of our position in Kings Meadow where footfall was much better than last year. Our stall attracted attention helped by our flags, banners and general colour. In particular this year there were a number of enquiries from women which was encouraging. The 50th Anniversary pins and the more discrete GOC pins as well as our GOC flyers were also in demand. There was a good turn out of our own BMT members in support of our stand and it was nice to see some of our GOC Board members as well.
Events such as Pride depend on our volunteers and I am most grateful to those who helped me assemble our stall prior to the event and on the day to those who shared the responsibility of manning our stall throughout the afternoon.
Happy Pride and thank you.
Simon
