Despite dire warnings of rain the weather held out on this autumnal walk led by David Balman. On a calmĀ but overcast day we set out for a walk through the woods and open fields in the beautiful South Oxfordshire countryside. The air was cool and still, carrying the rich, earthy scent of fallen leaves underfoot. A thick carpet of gold, amber and russet leaves rustled softly underfoot as we walked while the trees above released a steady gentle tumble of colour. The muted light filtered through the thinning canopy above creating a soft almost dreamlike glow.
Despite the grey skies the absence of rain made the paths easy to follow and we took our time to enjoy the quiet beauty of woodlands in their seasonal splendour.
The walk concluded perfectly with a light lunch at the Cheese Shed in Nettlebed where warm toasties were much appreciated. These together with good company rounded off the walk and provided a an enjoyable end to the day.
