Christmas Greetings

Dear GOC members,

As the year draws to a close, may I begin by wishing every member of the GOC a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. This season is often busy with family, friends, and celebrations, yet it is also a time to reflect on what we have achieved together.

One of the strengths of our club is the sheer variety of events we manage to organise, even in December. This month alone, members have arranged 40 separate activities: three multi‑day events, thirty walks (nine of them with a Christmas lunch), three online meetings, a trip to hear the South Wales Gay Men’s Chorus, and even a ten‑pin bowling outing. I promise I did not set out to echo The Twelve Days of Christmas, but the tally is impressive nonetheless.

Behind this programme lies the dedication of our volunteers. The GOC is run entirely by members who give their time and energy to keep the club vibrant. Without them, we simply would not exist. If you have ever thought about volunteering, please know that we are always happy to help new people find their way into committee roles. Current vacancies can be found by clicking on My GOC from the front page and looking just below the welcome message on your personalised page.

So let me end where I began: with gratitude and good wishes. Thank you to every volunteer for your continued efforts, and thank you to all members for making the GOC the lively, welcoming community it is. May the coming year bring you joy, friendship, and many more adventures with the club.

Anne 💖
