Welcome to the webpage for the club's Norfolk group. I'm David Willis, the group co-ordinator for Norfolk.
We are always looking to welcome new members to the group. I feel sure that you will enjoy walking in the lovely Norfolk countryside. We think of ourselves as a friendly group of like-minded individuals who enjoy a walk and an opportunity to be sociable on the way. In fact it is a great way to meet people and to discover new parts of the county. So often our walks are a little off the beaten path in the middle of the Norfolk countryside.
Most of our walkers are male and in their middle or upper years (in our prime, in the words of a certain Jean Brody). But we welcome everybody, irrespective of gender, age or ability.
We walk once a month, usually on the last Saturday of the month but increasingly some walks are being held on the last Sunday. We have done a mid-month / mid-week walk which proved popular enough, judging by the turn-out. This could well be repeated in the future. Our walks tend to be fairly easy, there aren't too many mountains in Norfolk, and are between 5 and 8 miles in length. Most walks are off-road for the majority of the route, using public footpaths and by-ways. The walks normally start at 11.00 and typically finish around mid-afternoon. They follow a circular route as far as possible rather than following a there-and-back route.
There is always a lunch stop but usually it is nowhere near a pub or cafe so bringing a packed lunch is best.
