Caerphilly Mountain

Alan led the group out on yet another wet and stormy day, from and to Caerphilly Mountain on this 7 mile circular walk.  It was very bleak and wet on the mountain at the start, but the rain stopped as we set off and it did stay mostly dry on the way around.  It was heavy going on often sodden and very muddy ground, but undeterred, we followed the route through ancient woods, roads, up and over Rudry Ridge and past the abandoned limestone quarry, and down through the golf course to the finish.  We were windswept and muddy, but we stayed in good spirits and laughed all the way around as usual, and the hot drink at the Mountain Shack at the end was very welcome.
