Fine weather always helps on a walk and we were lucky that the sun was shining and there was hardly a cloud in the sky all day. We set off through the fields towards Barcheston and a final head count confirmed the attendance to be 15. This wasn't another walk to the highest point in Warwickshire but there was one quite gruelling hill to climb before coffee which did at least give us views of Brailes Hill and Tysoe Windmill, just about visible with the naked eye.
Our journey continued and before long the village of Idlicote, and our lunchstop, was visible below. We perched on a wall at the Saint James the Great Church for a much needed lunch break.
A quick look at the duckpond then back up the hill and onwards to Honington. We stopped to take photos at a quintessential country cottage and to take another breather. Our walk came to a close along the Centenary Way back into Shipston-on-Stour.
We rounded the day off in true GOC style with drinks and lively conversation at the George Townhouse
Thanks to John for the photos and to everyone who came and made it such an enjoyable day.
