Circular walk in the Berkshire Hampshire Borders

Nine hardy souls set out on what was promised to be a stormy day but in fact turned out to be somewhat meeker than forecast. Our leader Joe set a good pace as we headed out of the charming village of Vernham Dean and into the fields. Because of recent wet weather a particularly steep descent was avoided and the route slightly shortened to 5 miles or so. Nevertheless we all had a very enjoyable walk with lots of banter as we hacked our way through brambles, marched across fields and wound our way up hill and down dale eventually finishing our walk at the George Inn in Vernham Dean. We were fortunate to have a single table that accommodated us all in a private room at the back of the pub. The food was excellent as was the service and company too!

Thanks Joe for organising this walk.
