Hi Gang,
Well yesterday's "Recky" was more demanding and tiring than the main walk today. Had to check for any flooding or muddy areas, having promised they only need their walking boots.
So today - with continued threats of more rain - "I had a plan - keep away from the River Thames Tow Path - enter the Castle Grounds by the boring town entrance".
Sure enough 8 of us arrived (one new lady missing - waited) so we set out on a serpentine route, covering all the planned stops but without the "near full gummies".
Everything went well, from the bridge (a safe place to observe the flooding) we where forced to follow the High St. Ah Ah The first spots of rain. No won't alarm them "They are a hardy bunch" - nothing about "Tea and Cakes" yet!!! So off into the extensive Castle Grounds, grass but no mud - gates (locked) no stile - so over we climbed. Missing out more mud we went around the block to rejoin the Saxon bank and waterlogged ditch.
Back to the Museum, patiently sitting waiting for us was our Agatha Christie - Obvious pics, then we abandoned her for the comforts of "Toasted Ham & Cheese sandwiches, hot drinks, cake. Discussions on "Scam text messages'. Mike & I returned to the Museum and found more pics of Agatha. As we passed heading for our cars she was still patiently seated with her book in he lap awaiting her next admirer's to arrive.
Thanks again for joining us. Paul & Bill
