If you're looking at this to see pictures from the walk, you're out of luck. I was feeling too laid back to get the camera out, so all pictures shown are from the trial walk.
Starting from the village of Winsley, south east of Bath, the walk dropped down to the Avoncliff aquaduct which carries the Kennet & Avon canal over the river Avon and railway line. Joining the towpath for the 3 mile stretch to Dundas aquaduct, passing along one of the nicest bits of this canal, resplendant in its autumn finery.
Pausing for lunch at Dundas, the walk climbed out of the Avon valley by way of a woodland path to the hamlet of Conkwell. From there, it was level walking across field paths back to Winsley.
Post walk tea was had at a local farm shop. A pleasant end to this 7 mile ramble.
Good company as always and it was really nice to have one of our women members come along.
