West Kent – Otford, Shoreham and the North Downs – 7th April, 2019

This month's West Kent walk was from Otford, near Sevenoaks. Despite the overcast weather, we had an excellent turnout of 17 people. From the station, we headed towards the derelict Otford Palace, crossing the high street, on towards the golf course to the picturesque village of Shoreham.  Our pace was quick as heavy showers were forecast for the afternoon, these did not, luckily, materialise. Our picnic lunch stop was at the top of the North Downs overlooking a newly ploughed field with pleasant views all around, shame about the mist though !  The return route took us up and down some steep slopes and along quiet lanes above Kemsing. The usual pub visit, this time at The Woodman, welcomed a few of us back in Otford. Not bad going for 9.5 miles.  Thanks to everyone who turned out for the walk and making it a superb day; great to see so many new faces. Thanks especially to Nick Percival for leading a wonderful walk.
