Our first walk of 2019 was from Grovehurst Lane, Horsmonden to Marden. A beautifully crisp and sunny winter day without the annoying northerly wind of the past few days. Most of the snow had gone apart from that in the shade of hedges and trees. We welcomed a newcomer to the group today, Adrian from Maidstone, and a long time member, Peter from Redhill, who returned after a long break following a knee operation.
Many stunning views across the Weald to the snow covered North Downs in the distance. We stopped for lunch on the outskirts of Marden village. Our return leg was along parts of the river Teise and across more typically Kentish farmland, countryside and orchards.
Many thanks to all that attended today, and to Leo Sturgeon, for leading the walk.
