A lovely late summer day for this month's 8 mile circular walk over into East Sussex, from Glynde to Lewes over the South Downs. Our first stop was after the climb up to Mount Caburn where we could see over the valley below and beyond to the sea in the direction of Newhaven. Partly re-tracing our steps, we continued toward Lewes golf course and steeply down into Lewes for our lunch stop beside the River Ouse. After lunch we took a route back up into the Downs past the Protestant Martyrs' Memorial and on toward the Combe. Thereafter, the route took us over the Saxon Down, now with extensive views toward the north and over the Weald before descending back into Glynde with its typical Sussex character buildings. Thanks to everyone that joined us today and made the day so enjoyable.
