West Kent – Christmas lunch walk – 5th December, 2021.

Despite heavy overnight rain, the day was dry but cloudy.  We met at Pembury village green for our short morning walk, expertly led by Leo.

Everybody was chomping at the bit for the popular carvery lunch at The Black Horse awaiting us.  We last met there in 2019; last year's meal being cancelled due a Covid lockdown (I can't remember whether this was the last lockdown or not now!) Anyhow, we were all glad to be eating there again.  The pub did not fail to satisfy and the quality and quantity of the food was as excellent as it ever was.  I was hoping everyone had heeded my advice only to have a small breakfast. Plates piled high but I succumbed to seconds, even though I knew the size of the dessert to come. Again, we were not disappointed, the dessert menu had been changed slightly but the popular 'Tom, Dick & Harry' and 'Dip n Lick' were still there among the others. Sumptuous desserts to die for !

A superb day with great company, I'm glad everyone enjoyed themselves and the copious amount of food and drink.  The booking for December 2022 has already been made, why not join us next time.

Colin Turner.
