West Kent – Chelsfield, Crockenhill, Lullingstone Park and Eynsford – 6th June, 2021

This month's walk saw 13 of us meet near to Chelsfield station for a 12 mile walk over wide open countryside with views back to Canary Wharf and the City in one direction. This was Julian Smith's first experience of leading a walk for us, he made an excellent job of telling us about various historical facts of the churches and other buildings we passed en-route.  We eventually dropped down into the Darenth valley from Lullingstone Park and castle to Eynsford where we stopped to eat our packed lunches in the churchyard, away from the throngs congregating by the river.  After lunch, we partly re-traced our steps to climb out of the valley and on to Crockenhill, again crossing fields and pleasant countryside before returning to Chelsfield village where we stopped for a refreshing pint or two!!

Thanks to everyone that joined us to make the day so enjoyable as always, and special thanks go to Julian for expertly leading and keeping us all informed along the way.

Colin Turner, West Kent Co-ordinator.
