Western Midlands walks often end at a cafe but on Sunday 1st September the walk started from a cafe where several walkers and the walk leader John enjoyed a cooked breakfast and cake! before taking a single step.
Encouraged by the lovely sunshine 18 walkers started off in high spirits along the disused railway line. Sharing the path with a variety of Lycra clad joggers on a time trial added to the enthusiasm and enlivened the conversation. Before leaving the track to venture into the countryside and have coffee the group admired the graffiti under a former railway bridge.
Having lunched al fresco the group walked through a couple of pretty Staffordshire villages before joining the canal for the return leg. Pausing to admire the unusual flight, as opposed to a staircase, of locks the group posed for the obligatory group photo (credit: John W photographer to the stars). Sadly the cafe was closed so we departed tired but hungry. Thanks to John J for a varied and excellent walk in warm sunshine on the first day of autumn.
