Splendid walking weather greeted the eleven of us today as we set off from Wells to follow a bit of Monarch’s Way and a bit of Strawberry Line to visit the village of Dulcote and Tor Hill on our five-mile outing. But, our biggest challenge on this walk was not the climb, as expected, but the immense puddle barring our way on the lane to Tor Hill, which only the long-in- the-leg negotiated, whilst the rest of us, for the sake of dry feet, made a suitable detour across a couple of fields. We saw a nice drift of bluebells in the first wood and a couple of pill boxes along the way, finishing with some tea at the Bishop's Palace Gardens.
