Three members enjoyed a level walk in west Somerset from Washford to Watchet along the trail left by the former mineral line that carried iron ore to the sea for export and coal inland for domestic use. This bit of the old mineral line runs parallel with the West Somerset Railway, which runs between Bishop's Lydeard and Minehead, and we have the benefit of seeing two steam trains with passengers greeting us with a wave. We had a nice time visiting Watchet, got to vote for our favourite piece of art in the East Quay and had a nice lunch in the Star Inn. Including our visit to the station at Washford, we walked five and a half miles. Thanks to Chris for devising and leading the walk.
