Well, judging by the amount of chatter and the amount of eating going on, I think we can be fairly sure that what has now become an annual tradition of a short walk in the morning, followed by lunch at a local café, was again well received this Christmas.
As usual we met up in Chipping Norton, and although we are running out of short walks from Chippy town centre, we did at least manage to stay out of the mud. Our 4 mile walk this year took us through the market place, past the vibrant theatre, and out to the village of Over Norton. Past the village we stopped to enjoy views across the valley to the hamlet of Little Rollright and to the prehistoric Rollright stones beyond.
Returning to chippy, 26 of us sat down to lunch, and many of us enjoyed 3 courses, as well as the odd glass of wine. Vegetarian menu choices were influenced by the home country of our Turkish host, whilst the rest of us enjoyed a traditional roast turkey dinner.
If I can find another footpath out of Chipping Norton town centre, we will probably be doing it all again in another 12 months time. Unless of course somebody else wants to organise something different for a change ???
Thanks to all who came and made it a fun day out. Mark Parker.
