The East Kent group had a walk at the end of January 2020. It was our first one of the new decade. We started from Taylors hill car park in the lovely village of Chilham. This is where we start the 5 churches walk at the beginning of May each year. As a surprise for everyone I had organised a cuppa and pastry stop at a couples house on the banks of the River Stour. Our hosts were very accommodating and offered us hot drinks, orange juice, pain au chocolat and croissants.
Then the walk started in earnest. It was at times cold, windy and sunny. Thankfully we had no rain to contend with. In total we had a good turn out of 15 people. The terrain consisted of some undulating hills, woodland, farm fields and lovely views of the North Downs. We got back to Chilham village square at 1515 after a walk of about 9 miles. Some people had to head off straight away, but 8 of the group went in to the tea room for some lovely cream teas. An enjoyable day out. Please do join us some time as we are a friendly crowd.
