Twelve of us set off from Sidford for our 5 1/2 mile return walk into Sidmouth.
We immediately came upon a juvenile Chiffchaff chirping happily just 2 metres away from us.
The country path eventually meets the River Sid and we then walked through parkland beside the river and on to a footbridge which gave us a view of the ford below, with the cars splashing their way through the fast flowing water.
We paused at the seafront to take in the scenery, before walking to the far end of the promenade where we climbed Jacob's Ladder and stopped for lunch in Connaught Gardens.
We then looked around Blackmore Gardens before heading back to our cars in Sidford just before it started to rain.
We were all so grateful that the weather was kind to us for this very enjoyable walk.
