SATURDAY 2ND OCTOBER 2021 – LETCOMBE REGIS AND BASSETT IN THE WET

Hi Gang, mostly dry, few bits damp around the edges,

Plans for our Saturday 2nd October 2021 walk started well with quite a few members putting their names down.

BBC Weather Presenters were not having any of it. They predicted severe wet weather, gale force winds, threat of flooding. As the days counted down, the fears increased. True I sent out a warning, which reduced the number further.

Saturday came, strange no rain. Having had a few more cancellations set out with Andrew W not expecting to find many waiting. Exactly - NONE - Was about to set off - just the two of us, heavily protected from the increasing volume of rain. Dear Terry arrived so we took a careful walk through the sheltered areas armed with our umbrellas, leggings, gumboots.

Rain now increasing so our lunch was at L Bassett church porch. Dry, watching the rain fall.

Time to head off, decided high escarpment and our umbrellas would turn us into flying Mary Poppins, so back along wooded paths.

Very quick to take up the offer of hot drinks and cakes before heading home 5.5 miles. Still raining Ha Ha

Bill
