S. Mids. Historic Deerhurst and Tewkesbury

We were blessed with wonderful weather for our jaunt from a large lay-by on the east side of the A38 up to Tewkesbury town, about 4 miles north, and back.
A jolly crowd of 21 walkers headed north east to Deerhurst Church along a foot path engineered above the flood plain. We then had a look at Oddas chapel before reaching the bank of the river Severn.
2 miles along the river we got to the Cheltenham College Rowing Club but not a rower in sight. Getting to the town at 13.20 the Group did their own thing until 14.30 when we restarted the walk from the 1000 year old Abbey. About 4 miles south through Priors Park, Tewkesbury Nature Reserve, open fields and commercial operations.
About half the Group then went for a very sociable drink at the Red Lion Inn at Wainlodes Hill by a calm River Serve still in T-shirt weather.
Thanks to John Hambleton for all his assistance putting the walk together and leading the walk when I got increasingly slow towards the end of the walk.
