Harlestone and the Bramptons - 21st October 2018
Five walkers (one on their first GOC walk), and Maisy the dog, met up along the Brampton Valley Way for an eight mile walk around Harlestone, Church Brampton and Chapel Brampton near Northampton. We headed off towards Kingsthorpe before heading west over the railway towards Harlestone Heath. It was very autumnal with the leaves falling in front of us as we walked through the woods. Once over the busy A428 we visited Upper and Lower Harlestone where we had our coffee and lunch stops. Then along the Northamptonshire Round, more woods and a busy golf course. We passed some of the most desirable homes in the county in Church Brampton, then made our way to Chapel Brampton and Brampton Halt, and walked alongside the Northampton and Lamport Railway, back to the start point. Cakes and beverages were enjoyed outside the Windhover Pub before we all headed home. The weather was unseasonably warm and sunny with at least one walker applying sun tan lotion!
