In 2021 Covid put paid to the traditional Western Midlands New Years Day walk. This year there was no stopping Group Coordinator Chris, not even copious mud and flooded fields! Sadly the numbers attending were depleted by positive lateral flow tests.
The group enjoyed views of the countryside, a monastery, impressive country properties and a stroll by a very flooded River Severn. Despite walking under trees laden with mistletoe the group remained at an appropriate social distance from one another! This didn’t prevent the usual level of lively conversation and jibes about the mud and dodgy stiles. The weather was kind, there was no rain and we enjoyed some sunshine at lunchtime and during the afternoon.
We welcomed a new member and there was a mix of familiar faces, some regular locals and others from further a field, all of whom were made to feel at home.
So congratulations Chris on a great start to the 2022 walking year and thanks for all your efforts in 2021 organising a varied walk program, featuring extra walks for reduced numbers when Covid caution required small groups and for continuing the popular Wednesday Wanders which enable those who struggle with longer distances to do shorter walks and enjoy lunch or tea and coffee afterwards.
