New Year’s Day Ramble: Berkshire Mid Thames and Oxford

The Berkshire and Mid Thames and Oxford traditional New Year’s Day ramble was led by Andy James and started and finished from Woodcote Village hall. Thank you Andy.

Despite the weather forecast we were relatively lucky and only had a couple of showers which fortunately coincided with our sandwich lunch stop at the Black Horse pub and where we were able to take advantage of the previous night’s marquee where we ate our lunch and managed to grab a cheery Group photo.

Our walk continued through mainly woodland and some open ground with wider vistas as some of our photos show. Muddy paths were a constant reminder of the rain we have had over the last few weeks and kept some of us with balance issues on our toes!! On the plus side our muscles have certainly been strengthened and our overall health improved. As we neared the end of the walk our footpath took us through the grounds of a delightful farmhouse amusingly named Bottom Farm!

It was good to see David again on his second walk with us and we also welcomed newcomers Robbie and Simon. We hope they enjoyed their walk and look forward to seeing them again in the future.

We hope you all have a Happy New Year.

All the best

Simon and Vas
