Meon Valley Nature Reserve

The threatened rain put of some in the group but the day was dry throughout with perfect weather for walking. Starting at the top of Old Winchester Hill we crossed the ancient hill fort and decended into the valley below to follow the old railway tracks before making our way to Meon village and picniced at the ancient Church with its attractive Bell Tower. We then began the steady but relaxed slow and steady incline to reach lower Winchester Hill and a short but steep slope brought us to the top where we were rewarded by magnificent 360 degree views taking in the Isle of Wight. Well worth the effort.
