Longrock to Gulval

GOC Cornwall  November 2016.

Walking along the southern shores in South West Cornwall.

Sixteen of us assemble for the November walk – 12 fellows and 4 ladies not forgetting one dog.

It was appropriate that we observed a silence at eleven o’clock to commemorate Remembrance Sunday.

Following this we walked the coast line from just outside Penzance, past St Michael’s Mount and up through Marazion where we dropped down onto the shores for the walk back. On reaching Marazion we ate our sandwiches at a vantage point overlooking St Michael’s Mount before starting phase two of the walk which was a round trip of Gulval’s golden acres. These fields were named because of fertile soil with excellent drainage and south facing warm sunshine.

It was actually very comfortable in the mid-November sunshine: as we warmed up layers were divested, one brave guy got his shirt off. The sea was like a millpond and the rising tide flooded the rock pools and causeway to the landing stages.

Chris’ pedometer said we’d covered 8.5 miles and the happy, rosy faces were further confirmation of another excellent occasion with GOC.
