Llyn Llech Owain near Cross Hands

This was classed as an easy walk or stroll, and added as an extra event to our West Wales programme, so that as well as our usual group members we were hoping to get some new members to join us too.

As it happened, included in the 11 people who came, we had 3 people join us who were new to this group. They were all given a warm welcome and they all seemed to enjoy and I hope they join us again soon.

This Country Park is made up of  some very lovely green paths plus some harder surfaces and almost all on the flat so ideal for everyone.

We wandered over to the information centre/large turreted building which was right by the impressive and most beautiful lake which was covered in water lillies.

We went inside and up to the first foor for a good view over and across the park and surrounding countryside.

We then walked by the side of the lake and onto a green path which was slightly raised giving great views of the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside.

There was a variety of bushes, trees and wild flowers alongside the paths making it very interesting and colourful.

We did quite a large circular route passed bird hides, returning to the lake, and viewing it from a different angle.

Returning to the start it was really nice to see that everyone wanted to stay for refresments in the cafe there and continue chatting.

This was a lovely stroll which turned into a really nice social event.

A few of us went to a nearby LGBT event in Llanelli on the way home.

Most of the stalls had finished by then unfortunately but I made links with another prospective woman member who was involved in this event and so couldn't join us at Llyn Llech Owain and who hopes to join us in the near future.

Thanks to everyone who supported this shorter walk.

I do hope the other new people who joined us today will come again soon.
